Bulugh al-Maram

About this book

Bulugh al-Maram was compiled by Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani, the great fifteenth-century hadith master best known for his commentary on Sahih al-Bukhari. It brings together the hadith that serve as evidence for rulings in Islamic law.

The book follows the order of the fiqh manuals: purification, prayer, funerals, zakah, fasting, i'tikaf, hajj, business transactions, marriage, divorce, criminal law, jihad, food, oaths, judgements and finally a section on manners and character. For each hadith Ibn Hajar notes its source and often its grading.

It has been memorised and studied by students of knowledge for centuries as the bridge between hadith and fiqh.
