About this book

The Sealed Nectar (Ar-Raheeq al-Makhtum) by Shaykh Safiur Rahman Mubarakpuri won first prize in a worldwide competition for the best biography of the Prophet ﷺ, organised by the Muslim World League. Since then it has become one of the most widely read seerah books in many languages.

The book follows the Prophet's ﷺ life in chronological order. It begins with Arabia before Islam — its tribes, religions and politics — then covers his lineage, birth, childhood and youth, his marriage to Khadijah, the first revelation in the cave of Hira, the secret and then open call to Islam, the persecution of the Muslims in Makkah, the migration to Abyssinia, the year of sorrow, the journey to Ta'if, the Night Journey, and the Hijrah to Madinah.

The Madinan chapters describe the building of the community, the battles of Badr, Uhud and the Trench, the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, the conquest of Makkah, the Farewell Pilgrimage and the Prophet's ﷺ final days, followed by a description of his household and character. The narrative is detailed yet easy to follow.
